Add To

GOODREADS

Fans of Bridgerton and steamy, mysterious Regency romance will swoon for USA Today bestselling author Anna Harrington's newest book!

• A deadly organization determined to overthrow the government
• A rebel with a secret she'll do anything to protect
• The steadfast soldier who'll defend her at any cost
• Sizzling attraction that could burn them both

Lady Sydney Rowland, Baroness Rowland, has spent a lifetime keeping secrets, one of them being her young son. Now that the husband she despised is dead, she'll do anything to get her son back and protect him however she can. And that includes risking her life when she's coerced into working for a revolutionary group determined to overthrow the government.

Captain Nathaniel Reed has heard of Sydney's involvement with Scepter. Though he quickly learns that Sydney is innocent, he's determined to keep the secretive widow at arm's length despite the attraction that burns between them. But when she turns to him for help, nothing will stop him from coming to her aid and showing her exactly what she means to him...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Captain Nathaniel Reed is searching for the leaders of Sceptre . They are trying to assassinate the Prime minister and the Prince regent.  The next person on his radar might not be as she appears.
Lady Sydney Rowland has a secret that she will protect with her life.
This historical romance is full of mystery and adventure.  Our characters are in grave danger all the way through.  This is part of a series and while you could read it on it's own,  it's much better to read the series in order because the conspiracy runs from the first book until this one.  The people our hero is hunting come from many different walks of life.  It's, very hard to tell just who they may be.
Very exciting.

I fell in love with historical romances and all things Regency—and especially all those dashing Regency heroes—while living in England, where I spent most of my time studying the Romantic poets, reading Jane Austen, and getting lost all over the English countryside.

When I read my first Regency romance in 2012, I was hooked and longed to create my own independent and spirited heroines and dashing heroes. The best part of writing historical romances is falling into history—to live in the world of Regency England through my characters, with dazzling balls, beautiful dresses, and gorgeous houses that I would otherwise never be able to experience. I love the period’s rich history and find that all those rules of etiquette and propriety can be worked to the heroine’s advantage…if she’s daring enough to seize her dreams.

In addition to earning my degrees in the U.S., I have studied theatre in London, Mexican history in Guadalajara, and Spanish in Ecuador. I am an avid traveler and have enjoyed visiting schools and volunteering with children's organizations in Peru, Ecuador, Thailand, and Mexico, and I have amassed thousands of photos I unleash on unsuspecting friends who dare to ask about my travels.

I love to be outdoors! I've been hiking in Alaska, the Andes, and the Alps, including one week spent dangling off the via ferrata in the Italian Dolomites, and I love whitewater rafting (when I don't fall in!). I earned my pilot’s license at Chicago Midway (To all the controllers in Chicago Center—I greatly apologize for every problem I caused for you and Southwest Airlines), and it is my dream to one-day fly in a hot-air balloon over Africa.

I adore all things chocolate, shamelessly dive into ice cream of any flavor, and guzzle Kona coffee by the gallon. A Doctor Who fanatic (everyone says my house is bigger on the inside), I am a terrible cook who hopes to one day use my oven for something other than shoe storage. When I'm not writing, I like to spend my time trying not to kill the innocent rose bushes in my garden.

A Matter of Temptation (A Matter of Temptation #1) by Stacy Reid. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

GOODREADS

Miss Wilhelmina "Mina" Crawford is desperate. Having been ruined in the eyes of society years ago for one foolish, starry-eyed mistake, she spends her days secreted away at her family's crumbling estate, helping her brother manage the land but not able to truly live life the way she's always dreamed. When her brother admits to just how dire their finances have gotten, she takes it upon herself to procure employment...but the only one who will even consider the scandalous idea of a female secretary is the brilliant, ruthless, and infuriating Earl of Creswick.

Simon Loughton, the Earl of Creswick, needs help if he wants to finally pass the reform bill he's been championing for years and secure the vote for England's most vulnerable constituents. Too bad help comes in the form of a woman with breathtaking nerve, fiery red hair, and a sense of humor to match.

Now temptation--disguised as a lovely, clever-mouthed devil--lives and works under Simon's very roof. And Mina finally feels as though she's truly living life to her wildest dreams. But even the most incendiary of kisses can't incinerate Mina's past...or the shocking secret that could ruin them both.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lady Wilhelmina Crawford and her twin brother are struggling to keep the estate going.  When her brother admits to doing something stupid to try and help,  Mina steps in to fix it.  Our heroine is an intelligent and capable young woman who feels she has nothing to lose. Already being "ruined" gives her a certain freedom.
Simon Loughton, Earl of Creswick uses his incredible intelligence in parliament to help push through the reform bills that will benefit the hard working,  ordinary people of England. Our hero hasn't got time for socialising. His grandmother can pick the wife she insists he needs.  He's too busy working to care.
This is a steamy historical romance with very intense characters.  Being incredibly clever doesn't always mean you get your own way.
This is the first book in a new series, and if the rest are as much fun we are in for a treat.
I loved it.

I am an avid reader of novels with a deep passion for writing. I especially love romance and enjoy writing about people falling in love. I live a lot in the worlds I create and I actively speak to my characters (out loud). I have a warrior way “Never give up on my dream.” When I am not writing, I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead, Lucas Hood from Banshee, watching Japanese Anime and playing video games with my love—Dusean. I also have a horrible weakness for ice cream.

Their perspectives aren’t the only things that change though, when they wake up in each other’s bodies…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Miss Emma Watts, her mother and younger sister have been left with nothing after her father gambled and drank away everything.  The people who encouraged that behaviour must be held to account.
Simon,  the Earl of Blackburn has been brought up by an old dragon of a mother who will destroy anyone to get her own way.  That means he knows just how devious women can be.  That makes him the one to find the woman who is out to cause trouble for the members of his club.
Ohh what a wonderful twist to this historical romance!  I'm not going to give anything away by telling you more of the story.  I don't think I've ever read a historical romance written by a male author before and I didn't know while I was reading it.  It's a interesting story with lots of surprises.  The characters are fabulous and learn some funny home truths.  I will definitely be reading the rest of this series.
I loved it.

As a male writer of historical romance, I am a member of a small but fortunate fraternity. After I ignored the genre for most of my life, discovering many years ago how much I loved it proved more than simply unexpected. It was an epiphany. Reading romance has changed me as a man by eroding my introversion, improving my relationship energy, and kindling hotter the romantic flame of my life. As a writer of other genres, it was only a matter of time until I felt compelled to try my hand at historical romance. After three pedestrian manuscripts, the fourth finally found a home at Entangled Publishing. I am far more lucky than good as a writer, and strive every day to reduce that ratio.

I also write science fiction and historical westerns under my real name, David Nix. These days, I live in Austin, Texas with my wife and have three adult children within driving distance.

The Dance of Love (The Book of Love #14) by Meara Platt. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

She was ballrooms and glitter. He was grit and brawn. They should have been wrong for each other, but they weren’t.

This blazing hot Brayden cousin has no idea what the beautiful, obviously refined young woman is doing in his office, but he has no intention of ever letting her go.

Lady Augusta Nesbitt only meant to deliver a book to Exeter’s surprisingly handsome magistrate, Rafe Quinton, as a favor to his Brayden cousins. She never meant to deliver her heart as well. But a mystery surrounding her aged aunt has forced them to work closely together to discover who burned down the old woman’s house. As dangerous secrets unfold, Auggie quickly realizes Rafe is the only one she can trust, not only with her heart but her very life. Will this rugged man ever see her as more than an elegant, pampered debutante?

Widower and Exeter’s tough as nails magistrate, Rafe Quinton, was having a really bad day until he encountered the beautiful Lady Auggie Nesbitt sitting at his desk with his son on her lap. Now his son is determined to make Auggie his new mother. Of course, that would require Rafe to marry her. But how can he put his heart at risk when something very bad is going on in the Nesbitt family and Auggie may be involved? Even if she is innocent, which he truly believes she is, how can he marry this elegant daughter of a marquess? She is a ton diamond, and her life is a dance, a series of glittering balls and elite soirees.

Can she find a place in her heart for a blunt, unrefined man like him?

Enjoy this next instalment in the humorous and heart warming, bestselling Regency romance Book of Love series.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rafe Quinton is the magistrate in Exeter.  It is a job that takes up too many hours in his days. Our hero is a widower with a young son,  and he's about to be involved in a hunt for a dangerous criminal.
Lady Augusta Nesbitt has come to visit her great aunt and finds disaster. The resulting investigation will bring a lot of surprises.  Very unhelpful witnesses and a connection that is distracting.
This historical romance is full of fun and love. The characters are strong, intelligent people who you might have met before in previous books in the series.  You don't have to have read any of the previous ones to enjoy this, but it will probably tempt you to.  That little red book has a lot to answer for.
Really good fun.

A Scot to Have and to Hold (Once Upon a Scot #2) by Maeve Greyson. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

Sometimes the best revenge is to thrive…

When Ross MacDougall, fearless warrior, frequenter of brothels, and seducer of other men’s wives, receives word that the Lord of Argyll wishes to reward him for their latest campaign, he’s skeptical. His liege’s gifts are often dubious blessings. Oftentimes, more like curses. Turns out he’s right to be leery. The reward is an Irish lass who looks like a grubby boy meant to work in the stables. And she's not intended to be Ross’s slave. She’s meant to be his wife.

Men turn away from Elise O’Cleirigh because of the accursed red stain on her right cheek. Her father called it the devil’s mark. Her mother promised it meant nothing. All Elise knows is that it’s brought her nothing but suffering. This arrogant Scot looks to be no different from the others, and that’s fine by her. She escaped her first ruthless husband. She’ll flee this one as well. But this Highlander turns out to be sly. He fights with weapons she’s ill-equipped to counter: kindness, respect, and a gentleness that makes her heart hurt. The man even apologizes when he behaves like a selfish goat. He makes her want to be wanted. And needed. By him. Not a good thing at all because come spring, she’s gone.

She’s the victim of a cruel jest. He dared fate one time too many. An unlikely pair, a winter together reveals they’re not so mismatched after all. But the past proves inescapable, returning with a vengeance to destroy them.

Note: This series is part of Dragonblade's Flame line, so this is a sexy, steamy, and scorching-hot read with multiple sex scenes. Be advised.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ross MacDougall is a respected commander but he also has got into lots of bother by sleeping with lots of women.  His liege has the perfect punishment diguised as a reward for him.
Elise O'Cleirigh is a terrified runaway who has been caught and sold.  Her face is the only thing that has saved her from more abuse.
This is an emotional historical romance with a very sensitive hero.  There are more than a few problems to solve,  and lots of fun along the way.
This is the second book in the series about three fierce warrior brothers, but easily read on it's own.  I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book.
Great fun.

Of Mortal Fury is part of the USA Today bestselling Executioner Knights series.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Morgan de Wolfe is given an undercover mission by The Marshal.  A castle was stolen and it assets are too valuable to be left in the enemy's hands.  It's Morgan's job to see it returned to The Marshal's control.
Amarantha de la Haye knows her father is not always the fair and benevolent man he shows her. Apart from pressuring her to marry he normally let's her do as she likes.
This is a wonderful medieval romance from an author who excels in her craft.  She always brings us characters to fall in love with,  and stories we can get our teeth into.  Those of us who have read her books before will know the family names,  but each book is totally different from any other.
There are plenty of giggles to be had, especially in the taverns where battle hardened warriors behave like silly schoolboys. Even one of the tavern signs will bring a giggle.  There are also vicious battles,  lots of danger and even a little sex.
I loved every page and can't wait for more.

An earl shadowed by the past meets a lady determined to start anew.

Ella Wright brings her two younger sisters to London after the tragic death of their treasure-hunting father on Oak Island, hoping to secure their futures. But the city presents new challenges, the first of which is convincing their estranged grandfather, the intimidating Duke of Rothwood, to take them in. Then their father’s journal detailing his search for pirate treasure is stolen, and Ella has no idea who to trust.

Leo Stanton, the Earl of Marbury, is alarmed when he hears three ladies claiming to be Rothwood’s granddaughters have arrived in London. Fearing the man who’s been like a grandfather to him is being taken advantage of, he rushes to Rothwood’s side to find three beauties under his roof and their father’s questionable scribbles missing.

Given Leo’s expertise in pirate artifacts, the duke requests his assistance to find the stolen journal. Leo reluctantly agrees, though he thinks Ella’s father was a fool. While he can’t ignore his resentment of past events, one heated kiss with Ella convinces him that more is at stake than a notebook.

Ella knows the pain pursuing a dream can cause, yet her growing attraction for Leo can’t be denied. Dare she trust him in her quest to regain her father’s journal along with her love, or will fate demand payment for the past?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Since the recent death of her father, Ella Wright has brought her two sisters to England in the hopes that their grandfather will take them in.  Their mother eloped with their treasure hunter father years ago and had no further contact with her family.
Leo Stanton,  Earl of Marbury is worried about an old friend,  and will do anything to protect him and his own family from heartache.
This is a lovely historical romance with a good mystery to solve.  Our characters have to face a past that's not of their making before the future can be seen. One or two persons decisions can affect the lives of many.
Emotional and fun with fabulous characters.  This is the first book in a series of stand alone stories.  I will definitely be reading the rest.

The Fury of a Storme (The Storme Brothers #6) by Sandra Sookoo. Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Not all storms cause destruction and chaos. Some make new paths and bring clarity. The difference is found within.
The Honorable Caroline Storme has been furious with life since she was twelve. Sent to an asylum due to a suspected mental deficiency, she has finally returned to London, not with vengeance in mind but freedom. Wanting nothing more than to pursue her passions in peace, she vows to ignore everyone around her, until she meets the one man who understands her… a big, barrel-chested sailor with tattoos and a devastating grin.
Mr. John Butler is in London to reconnect with his drunken, baron father before the man pickles himself. The family holdings are deeply in debt and decay, but he doesn’t care about them. Sailing holds his heart as well as his easy, carefree existence in Ipswich. That is until he runs into a woman in Hyde Park. There’s a quiet strength about her but also a banked fury that stokes his own… a woman with stormy eyes and a mouth that’s begging to be kissed.
When London proves too much for them both, John is quick to offer a solution: a marriage of convenience despite vehement protests from the Storme clan. It will give her freedom as well as settling his future.
But his blackguard of a father threatens the hasty union that is suddenly filled with affection and primal desire, the sacrifices offered might be too high for either of them to pay once love is involved.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Caroline Storme was commited to an asylum when she was still a child.  After twenty years and the death of her father,  her cousin brought her home.  However because the family have trouble understanding how she communicates, she feels that she has really just changed to a more guilded prison.
John Butler is the best friend of one of the Storme cousins.  He can see that Caroline just needs someone to free her to be herself.  There is only one way to help her.
Our hero has his own demons to put to rest.  He's not comfortable mixing with the "ton". He's much happier as a working man.  Can our heroine cope outside of the protection of her well meaning family??.
This is a very unusual and emotional  historical romance,  filled with wonderful characters and humour.  Even only as far back as Queen Victoria's Reign,  if someone was just a little "different", their families would lock them away from society.  It took people like our hero to see past the differences to the person inside.
This book can be read on it's own, but I personally think it more enjoyable to read the series in order.  The Stormes are a volatile family.
Good fun.
