A Most Unusual Duke (Shapeshifters of the Beau Monde #2) by Susanna Allen. Paranormal / Historical Romance Release & ARC Review.

Add To

Bridgerton meets Werewolves Within in this sparkling shapeshifter Regency romance mixed with humor, steamy chemistry, and fantasy.

The Duke said he'd never get married...

The Prince Regent insists his cousin and fellow bear shifter, Arthur Humphries, the Duke of Osborn, take a mate to ensure the continuation of their species. After all, Arthur is an Alpha, so he must set a good example. The duke would very much prefer to continue his comfortable bachelor lifestyle, but the Prince Regent is not a bear to be poked.

Beatrice, the widowed Marchioness of Castleton, is in possession of a powerful secret. She knows all about Shifters, her horrible late husband being one of them. At any moment, Beatrice could reveal the secrets of the Prince and those like him—unless the Prince can make sure she marries another Shifter.

A marriage between the Duke of Osborn and Beatrice is far from ideal for either one, but at least they won't fall in love...right?

Witty, fantastical, and entirely unique, A Most Unusual Duke is perfect for readers looking for:

• A delicious Regency romp with a paranormal twist
• A devilishly handsome Alpha hero
• A marriage of convenience
• A magical world to sink your teeth into

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Arthur Humphries, Duke of Osbourne is being forced into marriage.  Although he is an Alpha bear shifter he has never taken on his responsablities. Now the Alpha of all Alphas is demanding his obedience.
Beatrice,  widowed Marchioness of Castleton has had one awful marriage and thought she could get away without another.  As a human who knows the big secret, she hoped that gave her leverage.
Our heroine has a real talent for organization. With her wealth and a lot of help she can create a home.
Our hero is stubborn and has memories that make him worry about taking his rightful place.
There seems to be mischief happening,  is it dangerous??
This is a paranormal/historical romance.  This author's world gives us shifters of all sorts in England's highest ranks.  The characters themselves are fascinating,  and lots of fun.  We see Georgie in way we never expected.  Guessing the various characters "other " is all part of the fun for our heroine.
This is the second book in the series.  You can read each book on it's own but will meet characters from the others so might spoil some of the surprises if you read the series out of order.  I'm very much looking forward to reading the next one.
Really great fun.

All King Edward’s Horses Carry Many Brave Fools

— Mnemonic for the letters used at strategic points in the horseback riding arena for dressage tests, as told to me by one of my instructors

Horsey memoirs have been written by trainers, by whisperers, by breeders of thoroughbreds, by women who’ve rediscovered riding after a childhood in the saddle. These books are informative and provide an insider’s point of view on all aspects of the horse business, but what happens when an outsider decides to get a look in? What happens when a grown woman goes pony mad?

After leaving my marriage to an active substance abuser, I was desperate to move forward. Despite hours of Al Anon meetings, and volumes of self-help books, I wasn't convinced I was any closer to the kind of clarity I wanted in order to live a life free from fear and enabling. Completely to my surprise, I found the synthesis of everything — every meeting, every book, every therapeutic hour — on the back of a horse.

From my first lesson — in which I was too terrified to trot — to now, over twelve years later, when I’m participating in showjumping competitions and riding dressage tests, Many Brave Fools describes not only what it is like to take to the saddle in one’s forties, but also how the lessons learned in the arena can be applied to real-life issues.
